Angel flight 2 by Gary Weeks
Comment by Gary "This mission was delayed by a day due to a very intense weather front that was passing through South Western NSW yesterday afternoon. I can say that the forecast I received yesterday was chalk and cheese in comparison to the briefing I received this morning and it was a good move to reschedule for this morning.
Channae was not feeling the best this morning and was actually sick in the car on the way out to Camden airport. This nauseousness and general feeling of being unwell was as a result of an increased dose in the treatment this visit. As we know Channae is a fighter and after a bit of a stroll around in the fresh air at Camden she was ready to hop into the Bonanza and head home to Young.
We had a good run out to Young again today with just a bit of continual turbulence until climbing through about 7500 feet and above that it was as smooth as silk. Once underway both Channae and mum travelled well and enjoyed the flight. There was hardly a cloud in the sky with the visibility today unlimited and the best I have seen for a long time. This was obviously due to the fact that everything was well and truly blown away yesterday. Our Earth Angel, and my Pilot helper for this mission, was Bryan Padwick. Bryan is not just a qualified pilot he is also an aviation enthusiast and it was great to have him along for the flight. Bryan and I had plenty of time to enjoy a cup of coffee and a couple of scotch finger biscuits on the way out. Channae was happy with some snacks and some Jelly Babies whilst mum stuck with water and some nibbles. I think Louise was extremely happy not to have to fly yesterday and travelled comfortably today knowing that the conditions were lovely for flying today. I gave Bryan a fly on the way home as I knew he would be keen to accept my offer and we continued with more interesting aviation related chat all the way home. We climbed to 9500’ for our now VFR flight home direct to Camden as it was such a lovely day and we could also have a look at a map as well. Once again I had time to make Bryan a cup of coffee and when I then offered him a biscuit it was the only time he reckoned he was a bit busy and had to wait until the coffee was finished as he only has two hands. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to help Angel Flight. It was most enjoyable once again as usual." |
