565 - MERIMBULA / BANKSTOWN / MERIMBULA

Young single mum Natasha from Bega has three week old twins, Morgan and Libby. Libby is suffering from Hydronephrosis which causes significant discomfort. This twin needs to be seen by specialists in Sydney for various tests and examinations. As the twins are so young, they need to both be with mum. Their grandmother Sally will travel with mum for support/assistance. A long road trip would be very unsettling for mum & baby. Commercial flights are not affordable.

"I was again joined on this AngelFlight by Les Mitchell. We met Natasha (mother), her mother Sally (grandmother), and two baby daughters Libby (suffering from Hydronephrosis - kidney blockage) and Morgan at Bankstown GA Terminal. We departed on schedule at 3.00pm for Merimbula. There was moderate turbulance as we climbed to our cruising altitude of 7000 feet. As we approached Merimbula we found ourselves on top of a layer of rain filled clouds.

Time to review the approach plates. This task completed we began our decent, halting at 6000 ft to allow a departing aircraft to pass under us at 5000 ft on a recipricol track. Our arrival over Merimbula was stunning. The heavy rain clouds, setting sun, and two whales frolicking close to the harbour entrance set a beautiful scene -one I'll remember for a long time to come.

Our passengers departed and we were soon climbing out in our Piper Saratoga, VH-SUU. Les flew the leg back to Bankstown. Arriving after last light, we soon had the plane back in the hangar. Another very gratifying AngelFlight mission safely completed."
