Thirty-two year old Jonathon from Mildura sustained a brain injury as a result of a fall in 2000 and has suffered post traumatic epilepsy since. He has recently returned to Mildura from rehabilitation in Melbourne and lives independently with a combination of formal and informal supports. He is in receipt of Disability Support Pension. He is now undertaking a trial drug to treat his Crohn's disease. This has necessitated he and his mother having to travel to Melbourne regularly for review. The bus service from Mildura leaves early hours, takes ten hours with a change to another bus, then two trains. They then have to repeat all this to return home, with no accommodation stops.
