Fourteen year old Cassandra sustained burns to her right leg when the motor bike she was riding fell on her. She required plastic surgery involving a skin graft to the site of the burn. Her family is recovering from the bushfires which swept through Eyre Peninsula, SA in February this year. Their home and many assets were destroyed in the fire. They had to return to their property before the hospital discharge to attend to matters crucial to their recovery from that tragedy.

This Angel flight was to take Cassandra back home, as she wanted to be back home as soon as possible and the social work team strongly recommended that she avoid a lonely, long and uncomfortable road or rail journey.

LOVE BLOOMS OUT OF THE ASHES

When Patricia Pahl found herself facing the loss of everything she had built up on her farm ,during the horrible Bush Fires of 2005 and the dreadful devastation and tragedy that followed she accepted help from the many people that came to assist and John Bascomb was one of them. Together they battled through and have re-built a beautiful new homestead.

The hardest part they faced was watching the ruins of the old homestead being bull dozed. And having to re stock lost animals and fences. John was there to assist in every way he could despite having suffered smoke inhalation and breathing problems ever since he remained by Patricia's side and love bloomed.On June 9th they were married in a beautiful ceremony.

Cassie, Patricia's daughter who also suffered burns spent some time in the Women and Childrens Hospital, having skin grafting. It was on her journey home that I had the privilege of meeting her and assisting her through Angel Flight Australia as an Earth Angel.

We have remained friends and the whole family came to Adelaide to visit us. When Patricia told us she was getting married to the man that had helped her re-build her life, she claimed he is her soul mate and invited us to their wedding .

Who would have believed that from the ruins, love would grow.
