Comment by Tony "The mission started early. Take-off from MB just before 6.30am. The weather was overcast and stayed that way till Bankstown with plenty of CU's and as described on the BKS ATIS Few at 1,000 and "Towering CB's". Arrived at BKS without incident on schedule. We were able to depart a little early as Mark and Kath were early which was good because the weather from the west and all the way to Griffith was large build ups. Whilst quite benign it necessitated plenty of left and right of track diversions. Passing Griffith the build ups seemed to disipate and so we started our descent. About 5 minutes from touchdown it became quite rough although the air was relatively clear. It was at this point that Kath realised that she should not have had the Sausage Roll just before we left. Yes you guessed it!!! With the landing achieved and the passengers safely, if not a little "hungrier" on the ground we said our goodbyes and departed for home base at MB. Once again we were surrounded by big build ups but again nothing too sinister. We were cautious and again diverted left and right. Again some rough patches comming in to MB. So after 5hrs and 17 minutes of flying we were safely back home. As if there was any doubt about the outcome!! My heartfelt thanks must go to Bruce Cann who is like a "Brick in the Wall". He handled all the radio and ATC stuff and looked after the passengers with consumate ease and I am truly grateful for his help and assistance on not only this but other missions. Many thanks for the opportunity to help and best wishes." |
