MISSION 772 - ROMA / ARCHERFIELD / ROMA

SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST: 9th & 10th Angel Flight

Eleven year old Warren from Roma has a complex congenital heart problem. He recently underwent surgery to have a new Pace Maker. Warren is the first patient in Queensland to have this new device.

Angel Flight had Warren flown to Brisbane, as the pace maker was affecting his diaphragm and needed to be tuned by specialists in Brisbane.

"Flight to Roma from my property "Rossendale" near Maryborough, was nice and smooth at 6000 ft with a slight headwind. Picked up Warren Bland and his mother, Rosey and sister, Kym at the terminal building after refuelling. After the obligatory photos, we took off and climbed to 7000ft. The flight was very smooth and we had a 10 to 15kt tailwind for most of the flight, the "C" model Mooney trueing out at over 150 kts. ATC left us at 7000 until after Gatton and then we descended through scattered clouds over Amberley and into Archerfield direct. Earth Angel Sue Stubbs was waiting for us and after a few more photos, they left for Warren's appointment at Prince Charles Hospital."

Comment by David
"Today's mission (Warren's 10th) has gone well with all travelling home comfortably. An early start for Warren, his sister and mother with a 7.15am departure from Redcliffe in our Bonanza VH FMY. Despite complete cloud cover between Redliffe and Toowoomba, flying conditions were smooth but slow with strong headwinds at our final altitude of 8000. Just before 9.00am we arrived at Roma with a 35 degree temperature to greet us along with Warren's aunt and cousin. All were happy to be home. As my first Angel Flight mission I am thrilled to have been able to bring a little comfort for Warren and his family."

Warren's cousin and aunt (left of Warren) were waiting to meet him and his family.

Maybe the cake will help poor Warren smile!
