Health Professionals, Angel Flight is for you and the people you help in the course of your work.
Angel Flight services are entirely free.
Angel Flight's charter is to facilitate non-emergency access to medical care for people who would otherwise not have access, or would have access only with hardship, either physical or financial.
Angel Flight passengers will fall into many categories including cancer patients requiring treatment a significant distance from their home, blood products requiring transport, any ambulatory patient needing aerial transport to specialist treatment and more.
Flights are conducted by volunteer pilots in their own aircraft. To meet our guidelines, patients must be ambulatory (i.e. able to enter and exit small, private aircraft without pilot assistance, sit up in the plane with a seatbelt on and communicate with pilot, if necessary).
Angel Flight encourages a friend or relative of the patient to travel with the patient as a carer.
'Health Professionals' (i.e. medical practitioners, nurses, social workers etc.) are the people from whom we receive 'mission requests'. In some cases we receive enquiries directly from those needing the service - when this happens we ask the patient or carer to have their health professional, who has good knowledge of their case, to contact Angel Flight.
If you are uncertain if your patient meets our guidelines please feel free to contact us.
This video demonstrates the mobility required to enter and exit light aircraft. Health Professionals can use this to help determine if someone is suitable for an Angel Flight.
All pilots have flight qualifications that exceed the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), and their aircraft are required to meet specified CASA and insurance provider minimums.
