Pilots

Our pilots are our heroes.

Angel Flight operates Australia-wide with a growing network of volunteer pilots.

Angel Flight volunteer pilots come from all walks of life and donate their time, their skills and most of their aircraft costs* for each flight.

The flight credentials of our volunteer pilots exceed the minimum requirements of CASA and the aircraft meet specified regulatory and insurance minimums.

Please note: Our apologies, but Angel Flight is not able to introduce pilots to other registered pilots.

To help offset the pilots’ operating costs Angel Flight Australia subsidises fuel used on flights, negotiates the waiver of landing fees at many supporting airports around the country, and arranges the credit of any air navigation charges thanks to the support of Airservices Australia.

Volunteer Pilot requirements

All volunteer pilots are required to comply with the statutory requirements applicable to them and the aircraft they fly, including the Directions (Instrument: F2022L00332) relating to community service flights from 17 March 2022.

Please Refer to these two official documents:

Please note: Angel Flight requires all volunteer pilots (private and commercial) to have a minimum of 250PIC hours including those holding a CPL or ATPL.

Pilots are also required to undertake the AOPA US Public Benefit Flying: Balancing Safety and Compassion module. Note: When logging on, skip the address box. If you enter your Australian address it will not let you proceed. We have permission from AOPA US to use this course.
